Šnyt (from the German Schnitt) is an indefinite measure of beer: it is poured into a half-litre glass in a single pull, and the rest is foam. A šnyt is a compromise between a small beer poured into a 0.3 l glass and a full half-litre. It is said to date back to the times when innkeepers tasted the new beer every time a keg was tapped, and it is still a favourite way of drinking among beer connoisseurs who don't mind how much beer is actually in the glass.
